Julie Soininen

Julie Soininen obtained a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School and graduated from Wellesley College with a B.A. in political science. Julie’s previous professional experience includes working as a sole practitioner and as an attorney/advisor for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of the Administrative Law Judges where her responsibilities included drafting several decisions for the Board of Alien Labor Certification Appeals.

Julie is experienced in all facets of immigration law and litigates more than 50 removal cases each year in the Arlington and Baltimore Immigration Courts. Julie also oversees all alien labor certification filings at Montagut and Sobral and is the author of an article entitled “The Nanny Wars: Permanent Residence Options for Child-Care Workers” published by the American Immigration Lawyers Association in their 2008 publication: Immigration Options for Essential Workers.

Julie is a member of the DC Bar, and is a mentor and volunteer with the DC Bar’s Immigration Legal Advice and Referral Clinic and is a volunteer with the Catholic Legal Immigration Network’s BIA Pro Bono Project. She has served as faculty at several continuing education seminars sponsored by local Bar Associations and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Julie speaks Spanish and some French.
