Our firm’s divorce practice is primarily limited to hanlding uncontested divorces in Virginia. On occasion we will represent a client in a contested divorce matter.
Uncontested divorces in Virginia require a period of separation of one year between the parties, and if the parties have no children and a written property separation agreement the separation period need only be six months. One of the parties must be a bona fide resident of Virginia to be able to file in the State. Uncontested divorces are principally done by deposition in the office and are generally concluded in less than two months.
In addition we do represent parents, both mothers and fathers, in child custody, visitation and child support disputes. Always striving to find what is in the best interest of the children, we represent parents zealously and compassionately.
