Divorce
Our firm handles uncontested, or "no-fault" divorces in Virginia,
Maryland and the District of Columbia.
In order to file an uncontested divorce, the parties must have no conflicts
concerning child custody, child support, alimony or marital property. In
Virginia and Maryland, the parties must have lived separately and apart for
at least one year. In D.C., the separation must be for more than six months.
In Virginia, if the husband and wife have entered into a Property Settlement or
Separation Agreement and there are no minor children, the time period is reduced
from one year to six months. Testimony is taken in our office, so it will not be
necessary to go to court. We also prepare Separation Agreements and Property
Settlements for our clients.
