TOURIST VISAS (B2)
By far the most widely used visa, US embassies worldwide issue millions of tourists
visas every year to applicants who can show that they are coming to the United
States for a temporary visit. Because the embassies have broad discretion in
granting or denying tourist visas, immigration attorneys do not usually handle
such cases. We are able to assist clients who wish to have their family and friends
abroad come for a visit by providing invitation letters and explaining the process.
Applicants for tourist visa must prove that they have substantial ties to their home
country and are not planning to come to the United States permanently or to accept
employment. Applicants for tourist visas must also show that they are "admissable"
to the United States.
Tourist Visa extensions:
In some circumstances, it is possible for tourists in this country to extend
their stay. In order to do so, applicants must have a specific reason for
desiring to remain in the United States, must document their ability to
support themselves during their stay, and must submit evidence which proves
that they will return to their home country once their visa extension expires.
